Liz Peek: Democrats’ Iran Stunts Are ‘Un-American’—And Sanctuary Cities Need Real Consequences

  |   By Liz Peek Staff

Liz Peek didn’t hold back on Fox Business yesterday, calling out Democrats for undermining troops overseas while the administration executes a successful military operation against Iran.

“I find this almost unimaginable,” Peek said of Democratic politicians attacking the mission. “It’s un-American. Telling people not to obey orders? Un-American. Shame on them, truly shame on them.” She pointed out the timing is particularly damaging—troops are in danger, and the last thing they need is politicians back home questioning the legitimacy of their orders. Historically, she noted, this kind of rhetoric simply didn’t happen during active military engagements.

On the Iran question itself, Peek made the case that the operation was justified on three fronts: preventing Iranian nuclear weapons (a decades-long concern nobody had the spine to enforce), degrading their missile capabilities (which turned out worse than expected), and—most critically—stopping Iran’s stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz. “The entire world economy is being held hostage to a lot of mullahs with machine guns,” she said. “This should never be allowed to happen again.”

Shifting to the domestic front, Peek weighed in on Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen’s warning to sanctuary cities: it’s the right message, but the execution needs work. She agreed the approach of rerouting international flights away from sanctuary airports probably won’t fly legally, but federal funding penalties could work. The real issue is that judges have consistently blocked the administration’s early efforts on this front. Still, Peek sees promise in the political pressure: “I think it’s great that he’s calling it out.”
