MSNBC host Jen Psaki is facing widespread outrage after making offensive and baseless remarks about Vice President JD Vance’s wife, Usha Vance during a recent podcast appearance, Fox News reports. Appearing on the “I’ve Had It” podcast, Psaki — who once served as President Biden’s press secretary — mocked the Vance family and suggested, without evidence, that Usha was somehow “scared” of her husband. Psaki claimed Vance was “scarier” than President Donald Trump and joked that Usha should “blink four times” if she needed rescuing.
“I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife,” Psaki said, making an inappropriate and personal insinuation about the couple. “Like, are you OK? Please blink four times. We’ll come over here. We’ll save you.”
“And that he’s willing to do anything to get there. And your whole iteration you just outlined, I mean, he’s scarier in certain ways in some ways. And he’s young and ambitious and agile in the sense that he’s a chameleon who makes himself whatever he thinks the audience wants to hear from him.”
Conservatives quickly condemned Psaki’s comments as cruel and “disgusting” — pointing out the media’s double standard when it comes to attacking women associated with conservative leaders.
“Unhinged Jen Psaki is now smearing JD Vance, suggesting that his wife, Usha, wants to leave her husband and offers to ‘save’ her,” the Libs of TikTok account wrote. “She also thinks Vance is ‘scarier’ than Donald Trump. @MSNBC should be ashamed to pay her salary.”
Others echoed the outrage. “This is an absolutely vile thing to say,” Townhall’s Amy Curtis said. “Usha Vance is happily married…It’s also an insult to women in real abusive relationships.”
White House communications director Steven Cheung didn’t mince words either, saying Psaki “has no comprehension of the truth and has to overcompensate for her lack of talent by saying untrue things.”
The backlash underscores what many conservatives have long said: the liberal media will stoop to any level to disparage anyone associated with President Trump or his administration — particularly strong Republican women like Usha Vance who refuse to fit their narrative.
As commentators noted, Psaki’s attack came even as Usha Vance was traveling abroad with her husband in Israel, assisting in ongoing peace efforts related to the Gaza crisis — a stark contrast to the pettiness of Psaki’s remarks.
