Enough with L’affaire Epstein!

  |   By Liz Peek

From the start of the Left and Right-fueled Epstein craziness, I (and others) have assumed this: if the files held by our intel agencies contained a “smoking gun” linking Donald Trump to Epstein’s evil activities, it would have been leaked during Joe Biden’s presidency.

Biden was willing to do anything to destroy President Trump’s chances of reelection, and to destroy him. He and his lackeys in the Justice Department were willing to raid Mar-al-Lago looking for evidence that Trump had mishandled secret documents even knowing that Biden was guilty of the same. He and his functionaries aided and abetted the nonsensical charges brought against Trump for misstating assets and other charges of trying to “overturn” an election. There was no ethical bar too low that Biden, Merrick Garland et al did not cross.

So why would Biden not have raced to divulge salacious information about his predecessor visiting Epstein’s island or flying on the Lolita Express? Of course he would have, and the DOJ – FBI chief Chris Wray and others – would have been happy to oblige. That is obvious.

So, if Chris Murphy says that “Clearly, Donald Trump was at the center of a child sex ring,” he either knows something the rest of us don’t, or he is slandering the president and should be sued for everything he owns. (I hope the president is paying attention!)

Murphy, the progressive senator from Connecticut, a state which appears to have gone to the dark side, electing serial liars like Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, claimed to The Bulwark’s Sam Stein at The Texas Tribune Festival that Trump is “in daily panic mode as we get closer to the moment these files and the fullest truth that we have available to us is going to be made public.”

OK, so a lot of those files have already been made public, and there are more to come. What have we found that is incriminating to President Trump? Nothing, nada. Not even a nothingburger.

Yes, Trump’s name is mentioned, but mostly because Epstein was apparently furious that Trump dropped him socially and banned him from Mar-al-Lago after he recruited staff from the club to work for him. He was also seemingly insanely jealous of Trump’s success. As the eminently sensible Byron York wrote on X: “Trump is not a participant in the recently-released 20k-plus Epstein documents. Trump says not a word, writes not a single email or text, takes no part in any conversation. He’s “in” the Epstein files because Jeffrey Epstein could not stop talking about him.”

As CNN writes, “The emails suggest that Trump remained a fixation for Epstein, as he’s frequently mentioned numerous times over a span of nearly a decade — including long after their friendship ended.”

The Wall Street Journal reviewed the files and wrote this: “Not surprisingly, President Trump and former President Bill Clinton are both referenced hundreds of times in what was released this week, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis. Former President Barack Obama’s name appears as well. The Journal’s analysis didn’t identify messages that any of the U.S. presidents wrote directly to Epstein or received emails from him, just references to them by Epstein or his conversation partners.” (Italics are mine)

The WSJ also concluded: “Trump’s name appeared in more than half of the email files, often in shared news stories about his policies during the 2016 election and his presidency—a time when Trump talk was inescapable.”

Meanwhile, there have been some shocking revelations that Democrats have totally ignored, like their own Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett texting with Epstein live during a Congressional hearing on how she can “get Trump.” In effect, asking Epstein’s advice on how to conduct the hearing so as to damage the president.

Also, Larry Summers was revealed to have had an extended and chummy correspondence with Epstein; Bill Clinton’s Treasury Secretary and former President of Harvard has consequently stepped back from his various public roles.

There are more files to come; maybe some will cast President Trump in a less favorable light. But until that is the case, Chris Murphy had better lay off the slander.

Why, if the president comes out clean on all of this, did he initially fight to prevent the release of the files? Two thoughts:

  1. He was trolling Democrats, at which he’s very good or…
  2. He had been asked by Hillary or Bill Clinton to keep the Epstein secrets under wraps. Trump used to be friendly with the Clintons, and it would not surprise me to discover that they had pleaded with him to sit on information that could destroy Bill’s legacy. We know that Bill visited Epstein, and flew on the infamous plane. We know they were close.  Otherwise, why would Epstein have a painting in his townhouse foyer of Bill garbed in a blue dress and wearing red heels? Once seen (here it is) it is impossible to forget.
