Civil war is breaking out in the Democrat Party. Supporters of Zohran Mamdani, emboldened by his primary win in the New York City mayoral race are threatening to primary “establishment” Dems, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies and also fellow House members Ritchie Torres, Jerry Nadler, Dan Goldman and Yvette Clarke.

Jeffries is not taking this threat lying down. One of his advisers responded with a threat to turn his party’s guns on the democratic socialists from Brooklyn who serve in the New York State legislature and who could face primary challenges of their own next year.
The adviser said, “However, if Team Gentrification wants a primary fight, our response will be forceful and unrelenting. We will teach them and all of their incumbents a painful lesson on June 23, 2026.” Nasty!
Democrats are reaping what they have sown. For years they have stood by while AOC and other members of The Squad have spouted increasingly far-left nonsense that puts them out of touch with most Democrat voters, terrified they will alienate the noisy extremists of their own party. (BTW, Republicans face the same issues but they are not nearly as likely to all sing from the same hymnal. The GOP arguably welcomes a broader range of opinion than the Dems.)
Worse, when Dems wanted to shoehorn Joe Biden into the presidency in 2020, they adopted Bernie Sanders’ agenda to make sure the Democrat Socialist’s followers came out to vote. Remember that one of many reasons Hillary Clinton cited for her 2016 loss was that the so-called Bernie Bros didn’t show up on Election Day. (She also blamed misogyny, Russia, James Comey, and- oh yes! – American women who vote the way “your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should.” In other words, Hillary thought that millions of Stepford Wives toppled her chances. It was, according to HRC, NOT polling that showed voters who didn’t like her and thought she was dishonest. She really is so awful. Here’s a piece I wrote about that a few years ago.
But I digress.
By kowtowing to the Left, Biden sealed his party’s fate. Open borders, the Green New Deal, expanding benefits for illegals, censorship and DEI – all these priorities turned out to be unpopular, and resulted also in decades-high inflation that crushed Democrats’ and Joe Biden’s approval ratings. Look at the way Dems latched onto transgender rights as a rallying point; the vast majority of Americans do not want biological males participating in girls’ sports or invading their locker rooms, but few Dems have had the guts to buck the party line. Or look how Democrats like Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen prostrated themselves to serve Abrego Garcia, a wife-beating thug in our country illegally; at least five Dems traveled to El Salvador to let the world know how much they care about a guy now credibly accused of human trafficking…even though polling shows over 90% Americans want criminal illegals deported. How stupid can you get?
So now the Far Left has become the tail wagging the party, and several supposed “leaders” of the Democrat Party may be challenged. Already, the Democratic Socialists’ threat has claimed one scalp, with pathetic 78-year-old Jerry Nadler endorsing Mamdani. What an incredible embarrassment for Democrats.
