Mamdani Won’t Apologize to NYPD, Insiders Point to DSA Pressure

Con man Zohran Mamdani wants to ignore real causes of NYC's affordability crisis

Zohran Mamdani, the democratic socialist nominee for New York City mayor notorious for his anti-police rhetoric, has yet to deliver a genuine apology for his past disparaging remarks about the NYPD, despite growing pressure from various quarters, according to the New York Post. Mamdani has repeatedly labeled the city’s police force as “racist,” “anti-queer,” and a major threat to public safety, remarks that sparked outrage and raised serious questions about his fitness to lead a city that depends heavily on law enforcement for safety and order. His vague promises of apology have thus far been hollow, lacking any substantive acknowledgment or remorse for his harmful accusations against one of the nation’s most professional police forces.

Critics argue that Mamdani’s reluctance to fully apologize reflects a fear of alienating his left-wing base, notably the Democratic Socialists of America, whose influence on his campaign seems substantial. His campaign’s evasive language and avoidance of concrete steps to mend relations with law enforcement officers underscore a persistent hostility cloaked in political posturing.

Mamdani’s history reveals not a single lapse in judgment but a sustained campaign of vilification against the police, including advocating for defunding and dismantling key units tasked with combating crime. His refusal to confront and renounce the extremist rhetoric of his allies, combined with his maintenance of a socialist agenda, represents a dangerous detachment from the realities of public safety concerns in New York City. While he superficially acknowledges the role of police in “ensuring public safety,” his policies aim to reduce police staffing and reallocate funds away from the NYPD, threatening the security of all New Yorkers.

A Democratic operative who has worked on mayoral campaigns said of the Mamdani, “If he can’t bring himself to apologize to the very people that are literally protecting him because of DSA lunatics, he should drop out like Eric Adams,” adding, “The next mayor’s meandering avoidance of giving a straight answer on a simple question should alarm New Yorkers about how he is going to govern this city with far more complex problems.”
