The Battle of the Brands Isn’t Trump v. Clinton, It’s Trump v. Obama

Liz | 09/21 at 05:35 PM

President Obama and Donald Trump have this in common: both have created a personal brand that tops achievement and defies critics. Obama’s appealing image has won him high approval ratings, in spite of multiple administration scandals and a solid record of underachievement. For Trump, a powerful brand has made him a contender, against all odds.

Can Clinton’s Big War Chest Buy the Election?

Liz | 09/14 at 09:45 PM

Hillary Clinton has had a tough week, but here’s something she’s doing extremely well: raising enormous amounts of money. As of late August, Clinton had raised a total of $446.4 million (including through SuperPacs) compared to Donald Trump’s $137.3 million. That’s a prodigious advantage and one that could certainly make the difference in a tight race. You would think the media would be all over this story, but they’re not.

Maybe that’s because Clinton continues to rail about Big Money in politics, even as she rakes it in. Or maybe it’s because her giant cash advantage points up just how weak the candidate is. Even though Clinton has spent $349.6 million so far compared to Trump’s meager $96.7 million, the race is nearly even.

The Left hates Donald Trump, but nothing has inspired more invective than his outreach to the black community. It’s like he has barged into an exclusive club wearing the wrong color shoes.

In a recent column in The New York Times, Charles Blow sounds positively unhinged by Trump’s overture to African-Americans, writing a hate-filled screed that calls the GOP candidate a bigot, a reprobate, and a charlatan whose soul is “dark” and who is “a prime example of the worst of humanity.” And that’s just in the opening paragraphs.

Here’s Why Hillary Clinton Could Lose This Travesty of an Election

Why did Hillary Clinton reward Debbie Wasserman Schultz after WikiLeaks published emails that exposed how the supposedly neutral DNC Chair helped undermine Bernie Sanders and abused her office? Clinton elevated the disgraced operative to Honorary Co-Chair of her campaign, further enraging Bernie’s army of supporters.

What could enrage them more? Maybe choosing a moderate, rather than a progressive, to be her running mate? Oh wait, Clinton did that, too. She picked Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, who is not popular with the Sanders-Warren set.
